<3 Addicted to Robin Williams <3 huhuhu

I have the case of writers block >_< booooooooooooo~~~!!!!
Wanted to update on the exhibition post but i keep writing and re-writing the whole post over and over, haha, there's no pleasing me isn't it =S grrrr.
The thing about me is that whenever i start something and i'm not satisfied with it i'll keep doing it again till i get what i want. (So i'll leave it up to you to imagine how i kept repeating writing the post and deleting over and over again, especially when i try to upload the pictures, but then sometimes it failed to upload which is really~~~~~ annoying, huhuu)
Anyways this is all i can write down now. At the moment i am addicted to Robin Williams movies. He is 'da bomb', lol. ( Yeah that sounded lame no ;P but i can't help it, he rocks! he's cool! he's funny! and he's handsome! XD muahahahahaha!)
But he really is a great actor, extremely good comedian and i give him props as he is able to even act out a serious character even though most of his movies are comedy based.
So....Watch His Movies People!! LOL! XD

Robin Williams- "Did anyone ever tell you how pretty your eyes are?"

Monnie- *in meltdown mode* XD *sigh* (Yeap, i got tongue tied, hahahaha! ;P if he was real at the time i won't let him go! muahahaha!!)

Pic- Me and Robin Williams at Madamme Tussaudes, yay! Hehehehehe! The wax figures there are absolutely AMAZING!!!! Will try to put up more pics as soon as the photo uploader is fixed, not sure when tho' huhuhu.

Till then, cheeriosss!! =)

Monday 30 June 2008

Another day of packing some more bits.

So far i've managed to pack most of my things up, yay! But things have been slow in trying to update my blogs, and i have a visit from my big brother at the moment so having the hands full again >_< ( And yes he's helping out also. )

So taking a really~~ short break to rant in here that i so do not enjoy packing my stuffs up. It is a lot of work! Especially when you want to find good boxes, and me being the typical worry wart, i tend to pack things up, then take it out and re-pack it in again, and i'm still not satisfied and in the end i rearranged the things again! Then i keep worrying bout the box tape of how many layers i should put on and i worry if i have enough boxes, n i get worried if the forms i sent to the students unit has arrived or not. ( Lols! Gosh i worry too much about a lot of things, even so, it always turns out ok in the end and all that worrying was nothing ;P )

Oh well, bottom line im almost finished with packing up my things and hopefully by tomorrow its ready and waiting for the shipping comp. ppl comes and pick it up, then im free~ free~ free~ (...well...at least for the time being that is, hehehe ;)

That's enough rants for today~ Gotta go make dinner, hehehe.
Till the next update~ Bye bee~~~!

Wednesday 25 June 2008

I am back~~~!

Salam~~!

So sorry for being M.I.A. for a loooo~~~oooong time~~~!

Have been busy with LOADS of things but i'm taking a short break to update for a bit.

So far its been lotsa good news lately:-
  • The final exhibition on the 10th June was a success ( yeahhh!!! it was very stressfull n tiring but very worth it to do! *huge smile* ) Updates on that after i finish my other exhibition update, hopefully soon...
  • The external examination went well and i passed with good grades ( Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so deliriously happy!!! )
  • Had a visit from big brother before the final exhibition was closing, so i had my hands reaaaaalllllyyy full that time.
  • Had to attend the last days of college to sort out paperworks and clean my work space for next years students ( Seriously, i just realised i had a lot of stuffs so it took a while to get everything back to my house and i had to decide which to bring back home and which to leave behind, it was a LOT of work. )

And now i need to clean my room inside out and pack all my things to the boxes to be shipped back home, wow, been a busy bee busy bee lately, huhuhu... ( And i should be packing now but i took the liberty to at least get a days rest, specially since i gots the attack of the cold last two days, arrrrrrrrr! )

With all the things going on that kept me really busy, i'm aiming for updates once every two days or three hopefully =)

Okie then, i'm gonna go get a bit of rest, and hopefully get another update tonight or tomorrow.

Ciaos~~!

Hiatus till 11th June

Won't be going online untill 11th june or further notice because i don't want any distractions while trying to finish my work and preparing for the final show due on the 10th, and as you can see i havn't been blogging for quite a while now, sorry.

And heres some reply from the chatbox before i go on temporary shutdown :-

komodo san - yea, im not japanese =)

anatshawa - thanks =)

To clear things up, i'm malay, and description by oang punyit was right,i think it was a mix of org sungai kedayan, bisayah, belanda and china, correct me if i'm wrong... oh and i was wondering what oang punyit meant by 'jadi tia jipun' hehehe, being a bit dense cause i don't know how all those could equal to jipun *>_<*

Rze#ah - thanks, sorry won't be updating untill i finish work, going to be concentrating on my college work so may be back on track after 11th or further notice...

Faqeh and Wlow - thanks and i'll try to do that next time yea...

Najjy - Haha, miss u too

Rszm*ny - thanks, the 12 hours was actually set at a different day where we worked non-stop from 9AM to 9PM times two days which makes 24 hours, thus the name of the theme...

Ang~le~ye and Fahmy - thanks, and i love the cats, hehe

N~pSah - thanks, it was a self-funded exhibition, no works were on sale, it was a LOT of work but we did manage in the end *smiles*

Seraja - thanks, lols, i need to check on that again, i don't remember all the process *blush*

Tijah - yup, it's mostly about arts, other stuffs included as well tho' hehe.. and it's good to hear you like arts, umm...not really sure how to say it...all i can say for the time being is make sure if you start a project don't forget to include all your research and designs and sketches in your portfolio, this helps to prove that you have done studies before you reached your final designs. I hope that helps a bit... i would type in more but llimited time right now because i'm busy with college work, sorry.

Winxgurl - good luck for o levels, i'm not sure how to answer your question because i havn't seen your style of colouring, each artist has a different approach in using colours, all i can say is when practicing do a lot of colour studies, try mixing and get different colour combinations, when painting or drawing don't just be satisfied with only one work, make another but in a different angle or size. making a lot of colour studies are good points and improves your use of colours and observing skills, hope it helps...

winniedpooh - i love westlife!!!!!!! but nada pernah jumpa =( and now tinggal four members saja because brian sudah pencen~! *no~~~~!*

jauhdong - i like westlife and alleycats the same

Lina lyne - heys, haha yea i have one >_< havnt heard from u in ages girl!how u been?

HjhNauyah - thanks, i hope to teach the arts that i've learnt in uk if permitted when i become a teacher (insyaallah...)

Lu^Lu - have patience my dear, you can do it! By perfection what do you mean? Try doing a screenpaint work or still life drawings, don't just make art for granted, every artwork done always have a meaning behind it.

{M}izzy - well, kalau title teacher atu, i'm not yet worthy to have that title yet because i'm still a student myself, all i can say, if you want to improve your colouring skills, always do a lot of colour studies and when doing a still life drawing, never have black outlines, it's not like a comic with visible lines.

Pg.Hjh Amanah - thanks *smiles* i am honoured ( and happy that i got 1000+ visitors )

Erya*ty - yup, there is muslim arts, but i havn't been to one yet...need to find out where it is tho', and yes, i have been to many arts centre, you can find a LOT here XD but i don't think i can go to all of them, huhuhu...

aunt/unc hrmdone - >_< uhhh.....?

And somehow there was a short talk about cars! haha, how did that happen XD

My dreamcar is a convertible! i sooooo~~ want one in the future!!! XD i love those type of cars!!! and i definetly want a blue coloured one! maybe metallic blue even! XD there a lots of different car types here, ada basar ada damit ada very very cute damit brabis it was as high as onii-chans waist! hontoni kawaii desu!!!!!

Insyaallah i try post about the transportation in london (or you could request it to my big bro from dbckun.blogspot.com, his blog is about anything, and if u mention cars and top gear, he loves it, huhuhu)

Nimmi - i am tired but fine, banyak kerita austin mini sini, huhuhu, macam2 colour lagi and even the old models ada >_<

OK, thats about it, for now i won't be going online untill my work is done and the final show goes well (prolly be back about 11th or 16th)

Hiatus mode, on~! Wish me luck!

Have a nice day everyone!

Exhibition - part 2

Taking a short break from doing my work, so here is part two (with some pics XD huhuhu. Yes, monnie is still here with extra commentaries )
On the morning, we were all busy with setting up and curating on how we would put our works. Since we were setting up the entire event on our own, we also get to choose how we want to put the works together. This was vital in an art exhibition so that the artworks are displayed at their best and that they would compliment the other artists works as well, also some artists who happen to have a theme that are the same, may or may not want their artworks next to each other.
(We call setting this up 'curating' and a person or bunch of people who does this work are called 'curators'. Its a heavy responsibility as they must make sure the artworks are set up in order and look good.)
And here is the banner outside the exhibition area, we held it at the Ware Arts Centre.

The way in, welcome welcome~~~, as we are greeted by the man in charge of the bar at the time. (We had job shifts on serving food, greeting visitors and taking visitors around our exhibition, i was in charge handling visitors, then serving the refreshments and lastly greeting visitors at the door, huhuhu.)
Angelo was taking care of the kitchen area at the time, setting up refreshments when the guests arrive. (FYI, we had finger foods like crisps, cakes and chocolate etc.etc.etc. Yum yum yum~! drinks were wine n beer and soft drinks for those who don't drink alcohol, namely me and people who were under 18 huhuhu. Me and Emma was in charge of buying refreshments, hehehe.)

And here are the rest of the photos while we were setting up...
Vicky at work~~~!
Kate with her 'old woman scene' work
A lot needed to be done, huhuhu. What in the world was i doing that time???hahaha. Emma and keeda was caught on camera! (I forgot who I took this picture from...hmmm...think it was from Sarah's camera, hehehe...)
Taking a short break... Lemmi is tuning his guitar for his performance art later. It was wicked!
Still more breaks,hehehe.
Hmm...can't remember much what this was about... ( I didnt take this one tho, hehehe... XD )
Lemmi hard at work to give the finishing touches. (Go go 'pretty music making machine'.)
Vicky and her mushroom stool. (It was cute! Hehehe.)
Lucy and her two 'men' bodies. (Her work was about obesity)
*Ting!*
And the time is up~~~! Gotta move on~~~!
Tune in next update, part three, the exhibition night event.
Enjoy~~~!

The exhibition - part 1

As said earlier, due to time constraints and loads of work to do, I will be doing the updates only in small short and simple posts,huhuhu...

Notes before moving on... ( with commentary by special guest monnie hehehe... )
  • The morning was chaotic ( but we managed to pull it all through in the end and overall it was a success *smiles* )

  • My original camera went *kaput!* days before the exhibition -__-'' ( but thanks to my friend gd for lending his camera to me, I was able to get some photos)

  • Halfway through taking pics during the exhibition night, the battery went *flat!* ( and by the time it was charged again, the event was coming to a close and i had my hands full, which resulted in not many photos taken on the exhibition night *sigh* )

  • Due to *look at previous note* I had to get some photos from friends and others ( so the quality of the pics may differ, sorry bout that... >_< )

  • Some works are not suitable for under 18's,thus i may not include them in this blog, however i do apologise if there were any included that i have not noticed ( imitating joey from friends 'if you know what i mean *smirks* )

  • There were 2 performance arts done that night, one by lemmi and another by angelo. ( But i cannot post this as the video was too heavy and there were some parts not suitable for under 18's as well, so sorry again peeps. )

  • Lastly, a little talk about the theme of the exhibition again ( in case some of you have not read my past post and may have misunderstood the meaning when i mention that our exhibition was called 'One Night Stand' *grins* )

Prior to our exhibition theme, One Night Stand, we have chosen this title in response to making work in a period of 24 hour time base and we wanted to create something fresh, new and contemporary that breaks the traditional rule of having exact measurements and white boards for hanging paintings in an art exhibition. ( in other words we a rebelling the very common art gallery where only paintings were exhibited on perfect white walls and stuff , we wanted to go modern and contemporary,huhuhu...)

The work that we had made was done in a period of two 12 hour days set aside before the actual exhibition, where we had worked non-stop from 9AM until 9PM. No theme was given as we felt that if we had a specific theme, it would give constrictions for the individuals. Thus each member had a different subject that they worked on.

The themes each has done are money, pretty music making machine, superheros, the secret sides of a person, obesity, destruction, sucky blankets, music, phobia and fear, sex and finally love with their respective artists Elspeth, Lemmi, Angelo, Siti (Yours truly), Lucy, Kate, Vicky, Jo, Emma, Gemma and Keeda.

*Ting*

uh-oh, time to go now, huhuhu...

till the next updates, ( this time with pics XD ) exhibition- part 2, don't miss it =D

500 visitors~~~! Thank You all! =D

With a very busy schedule, my time has been extremely limited, with reports, evaluations, finishing my units, meetings for the final exhibition held in june, thinking what my theme should be and what i want to display in my final show, need to burn some dvds and filing reports on the 'one night stand' exhibition. This and that and this and that...... I am going whooooooo~~~~~!

With so much going on, looking at my blog saying its past 500 visitors had made my day. XD I am very happy and i want to thank all who has visited my blog and family and friends who has supported me, thank you very much... *hearts*

And while im at it, i hoped u enjoyed the post on japanese tea ceremony... i wanted to update on the 'one night stand' exhibition but with so much going on, it will have to wait... And here are some responses for the chatbox...

Shidy - thank you for the comment, it's great to hear that your daughter takes art =) and yes i will be showing more about art in my blog as the purpose of this blog was also to talk about different kinds of arts. I hope your daughter does very well in art. *smiles.*

Tony - The museum in amsterdam has a very wide range or art types, noted ones are sculptures, performance arts, paintings, installations, video art, some crafts, photography art, etc. The persimmons painting is entirely of oil paint on canvas, the use of the strong colours has makes the painting look like its embossed.

Belinda - the black paint thingy ( haha, sorry i also forgot what the title was, my bad. ) is actually an oil paint on canvas, not clay, the way the artist made it was he used various levels of black paint and to add the extra raising effect, he painted over the original over and over. It's not really that hard to make, but you'll need accuracy and a LOT of black acrylic oil paint. >_<

Ak Az - yes, i agree with you, these people don't just make art for the sake of it, each work that they make has a very in depth meaning to it. There was someone who did vase + painting, he was called Grayson Perry. One of the noted good artists here, but his art was made to shock people and i for one was well shocked the first time i saw his work. It had a very strong meaning behind it.

Mina - thanks, glad you liked it =) good to hear u like art, keep it up! XD

Amaliza - *blushes* i think its the dress that makes me look a bit thinner, my weight has been nothing but constant so far, hehehe, and insyaallah i graduate this october.

Adik - wow, i heard you did a lot of cool things, siuk bunyinya, nanti masa ka ct balik liatkan ka ct ah what you did =)

Mama - My exhibition went really well, alhamdulillah, hehe, i am ok msa ani ganya sibuk brabis saja, banyak lagi kan di buat >_< and time is limited kyuuuu~~~~!

Hjh Ida - Thank you, sorry i don't have the individual shoots of the work for the vase portraits. But the flowers are fresh for sure. When we went there, it was really freezing, snowed on the last day even, though it was spring, unfortunately, not many lily's were in bloom that time *sad* and there was a flower market there and they sold a LOT of flower seeds, and the market stretched from on end to the other. Sorry i couldn't get a hold of the photos for you...

Noni - yea, i am really busy *sigh* thanks for the luck, hehehe, i will do my best to acheive a good result.

Shar - Haha, i'll also post other things in here, not just arts and crafts, i plan to visit the london zoo in the summer, there are lots of zoos here, not sure what you meant bout the stairs but all i can say is that those stairs sculptures are sooooo high up, its like going to the sky...hehehe.

Sanny - hehehe, thank you...snow only comes if its below -3 to -6 degrees ( or even lower ) and if the temperature stays that way for a few days, it will definetly snow. >_< soooo cold~~! a heater is a MUST have, huhuhu...

Leez - Lol, thanks *blush* yea, im not japanese born, and yes my bro has some pretty good skills in that area, will try to push him one day XD ;P

Fathan - thanks for the comment, hehehe, and yes dalam hutan atu is a large sculpture museum area of 25 hectares in total, i mentioned it before in the 'into the woods' post, inda ada binatang ganas, hehehe, don't worry, hehe...

Hanim - thanks, hehe, will post more on what i did here if i get the time, as said earlier i'll be extremely busy for now due to loads of work to do...

Azimi - Thanks very much, Insyaallah i will post animal pics ( after i visit the zoo *hearts* XD ) and famous artists works too * smiles * hahaha and dbc onii-chan the best, he loves oranges XP *hint hint*

Jauhdong - true true, i have loads of ideas for work hehehe, problem with it is I have to concentrate on doing one project at a time, huhuhu, hi dad...

And thats all people~~~, thank you very much for all the comments and the support! XD
I will do my best to get a good result! and try to update whenever i can =)
For now, peace and out~! =)

Wednesday 23 April 2008

Japanese Tea Ceremony! yummm~~~!

For the time being, i will be posting about a different event that took place the day after our exhibition night, which is the 'Cha no Yu' japanese for hot water tea.

A friend of mine was doing a performance art about Japanese Tea Ceremony and she has invited me, my tutor and two other colleagues as 'invited guests' for her performance. She will act as the tea master, and the four of us will act as the guests. There were also other people there to watch our performance and follow what we do, thus audience participation was included and refreshments served were hard and soft japanese biscuits, sushi and green tea (the main ingredient for the performance) sake was also served, but only after the performance for those who want it. Of course yours truly didn't take it because it is 'haram'. I stand firm that drinking alcohol is a huge sin not only for me but also for other fellow muslims.

I was very honoured to attend as one of Rachels guests, and came in the Bruneian Traditional Dress ( I had considered to wear a kimono, but it took time and money to make one, thus i opted to just go in my traditional dress, which was cheaper, less time consuming and also it had fitted quite well with the dress code as my dress already had floral designs on it, hehehe. )

The day that time was not one of the best at first because the night before was our exhibition night and the next morning i had to wake up early to pass over the art centre keys to Rachel and since i was there already i voluntary helped her set up a bit before going home at lunch time to get some rest since i had some time left before the event.

Decided that since there was time, had a good lunch, watched some friends episode and inevitably slept for a bit ( i was really tired to the MAX that day ) Woke up with quite a reasonable amount of time to get ready, got me a good bit of rest and casually dolled up for rachels event at 7PM.

Seems like it went just fine at that time.......until i realised.......i spent too much time getting ready, i had to rush getting my things ready and head over to the art centre.... and that is not all~~~ oh ho ho~~

On my way there i realised my fan and purse that rachel made for me was missing!!! ( they were handmade by rachel, it was very very pretty, thank you rachel!!! i love it! XD )

Stayed cool for a bit... "Oh yes! its in college on my work table."

Toodle doo~~ off to get it then!! Had to walk really fast to get to college hoping i could get it in time before the door gets locked up... "I can still make it...no worries..."

Unfortunately~~~.......i was too late.....college had closed early......Okay, lets start the panic phase!!!Uwa uwa uwa~~~!

In the end i decided to make my own fan and purse at the art centre since i still had some time left, but then rachel lended me hers as she was not using it. ( SAFE!!! KYAAA~~! Thank you rachel!!! XD )

Happy as i was and just when i thought it was going to go smoothly all the way, i was wrongo~~~ again! We were enjoying the japanese tea ceremony, and I had realised I don't have my camera with me!! Oh no!!! I should have brought them with me!!! *sigh* never mind.... might as well enjoy the performance......

Apparently after the whole tea ceremony was done, lucy handed my bag back to me and whhaaalaaaaa~~~~~!my oh my~~~~!!! My camera was in there all the time!!!! ......GREAT....just~~~ great..... -__-

Lucy - "oh no siti!! if i knew i would've taken photos for you!!!"

*double triple quadruple sighs*

Me - "its ok lucy, might as well enjoy the last bits before everyone goes home yea. =) "

And so started our little photo shooting vanity fair, hahaha.

And since it was rachels performance, of course she had videos and photos taken all during the time, and she was very nice enough to send me some of hers ( Thank you rachel!! Your truly the best! XD you deserve all the credits in this blog! and tell your husband his photos are really lovely. props to both of you, and your daughter too, she did a wonderful job with lucy and her kimono is really beautiful~ *smiles*)

Before rachels performance, i was really really tired, hehehe. But still managed to smile for the camera *winks*. As they say 'it's once in a lifetime, enjoy every bit of it while you can'

This is rachels hair clip, she made it herself, sooo preeetty~~~! I must say I am amazed because i really like rachels artworks! Her ideas are top notch! XD

Sushi!!!!! YUMMMMM~~~!I wanna eat some more~~~! ( Lucy's loving it XD hehehe~~~! sushi good~~~! Angelo eat the egg~~! XP who dares to eat the wasabi??? )

This was put in the front of the entrance, we take a sip from the bamboo handle and after that, pour a bit on our hands ( cleaning both hands ) and dry them with the towel provided. This is done in the order of the cheif guest going first followed by the rest of the guests in height order from tallest to shortest. ( I was the last, hehehe ;P )

These were part of her artificial japanese garden, the big rocks were made out of chicken wire and paper mache.

Same goes for the bridge.

To add effeects, she put some sand, some small pebbles and some bonsai, it was a really nice garden =) and rachel made them all by herself...wow~! =) Homemade garden, fu fu fu.

The purpose of the garden was for the guests to admire them along with the japanese scrolls while they are waiting for the tea master ( in this case rachel is the tea master ) to call them in using a bell, seated according to cheif guest first followed by other guests according to height, and enjoying the refeshments that the tea master offers, all the while giving comments and opinions about the place, the garden, the food and drinks, etc.etc.etc.

This was when we were 'admiring the garden' part where we made some comments about the settings and the japanese scrolls on the wall.

Waiting for tea from the tea master =) we also made comments about the utensils used and the scroll at the corner, it was part of the performance, as rachel explained to me that the whole process from the start to the end was considered for the japanese as an elegant art.

After the performance was over, it was chillaxing time, ( hahaha words chill and relaxing put together, pardon the misuse of words ) My dear friend lucy was helping out as a waitress for the other guests present at the time.

The 'invited guests', my tutor Peer, me, friends jay and chris. I wanna wear a kimono~~~! *takes notes to try and make one, muahahahha~!*

The after partay, enjoying the green tea~~~ cheers~~~ Cups were decorated beautifully XD Hahaha and love peers expression when he held the tea bowl. Take note, very thick powder green tea makes your lips turn green (with envy blue~~~~hahaha, saja masukkan the singing phrase XP )

Case of vanity gets a hold of us all the time, hahaha

Rachel " Look siti, look marni, this was made entirely out of paper mache"

Me "Really?? I thought it was a bowl....wait a second? Shouldn't it leak since its made of paper mache?????"

Rachel "Yes i was quite surprised too, i think it did not leak because i had added extra layers and some waterproof paper must have did the trick to not let any water spill. It's amazing!"

Smile Marni!!Your on candid camera!

The woman behind it all!!! Rachel Melrose!!! All i could say in a word is "SPECTACULAR!"

Rachel "The magic paper mache bowl! Hahaha, no leaks, no mess guarantee~orders taken now."

The menu, i was attracted to the flowers the most, hehehe. A lovely bunch of spring flowers with a bamboo shoot. =)

In the toilet, where i tried to take a pic on the mirror with my camera, i like the flash reflection, makes it look like im holding some mysterious glowing ball, hehehe.

After that me and lucy had an idea~~~
Lucy " Oh siti, let me be your shadow first and then u could be mine after"

We called this one 'In The Shadows...'

This is called 'What the other soul is like...'

Another case of camera and mirror vanity, hehehe. We love messing about with the camera. XD

Overall, the day went by with some troublesome things going on but in the end it worked out well, the night was very enjoyable and I had some very sweet memories, me and my friends bonded better and we all had a wicked time. =) If i could, i would love to do a performance like this someday. XD Maybe of a different cultures tea ceremony XD Performance art is really cool =) I remembered doing my very first performance art last year and it was in a way very educational and fun, hehehe >_<. But lets not talk about that now cause i gotta go do other things, hehehe *winks* Hope you enjoyed my lil rant on the Japanese Tea Ceremony ^_^'' Off and eating sushi~~~! (Me and Lucy "Sushi Goooood~~~! XD ")

Stedelijk Museum.

As per request, here is an update about some artworks that has caught my interest in the Stedelijk Museum in amsterdam. I would love to talk about what is in Rijks Museum, sadly I did not go there...but i did manage to take a few photos in Stedelijk Museum =)

It was quite hard to get them without flash because if you took pictures with flash the security guards will go BERSERK and SUE you ( to those who read my previous post, you get what i mean -__- ) But it was still rather lucky to be able to take pictures as most galleries do not allow cameras in the exhibit. Altough the quality of the photos are not as good as with the flash but it will do. Hehehe... =) I am quite happy with that anyway.

Enjoy~~~! XD

Remember this?? =) I still had no idea how to pronounce it, hahaha!

As we went in this view greeted us.

As i looked back at the photos, it was still very amazing for me, the redness of the room was 'in your face!' and looking outside makes you feel like your on another planet. Standing near the plastic window gave this feeling of amazement and anxiety because we were absorbed with the fact that it was both like being on mars as well as this danger zone that could lead to instant death because the distance from the plastic window untill all the way down to the ground was really really~~~ long~~~! >_<

Also being in the one coloured room was actually fun, I would imagine it to be a different colour...and sometimes wondered if it would give out a totally different feel...

This painting was amazing! Its an oil paint on canvas and if i'm not mistaken the title was 'persimmons.' I really like the strong use of colours in this painting and how the artist sets the distances of the subjects apart gives it a sort of minimalist aprroach. The colours that matches the persimmon are a good touch and the pink dress alongside the facial features of the girl suggests 'difference' and 'left out'. The pear to me maybe is a sign of 'longing to fit in'. Thats how i see the painting at the time...But hey, each person has thier own opinions isn't it ;)

This was set up on a wall at the end of a small room.

And here is a close up of the above picture... I'm not quite sure what the artist wanted to portray in this work, but it may have been to 'absorb' as i find myself looking at if from afar and gradually moving forward all the way close up to the painting. ( in which makes me look like a silly girl that time because i was really~~~ close to the painting my eyes were squinting and my face was close to kissing the centre, hahahaha! ) Good thing i was the only one in there that time *winks winks*

And here is one of my favourites! As i said in my previous post, this painting felt so real! and i really LOVE the way the artist did the textures in the painting. I was really taken aback by this one because I was practically looking at it at all angles near and far and in and out, hahaha! A huge plus from me!!!! XD
(sadly after that my mood turned sour due to the security guard incident... -__-'' grrrr....)

This was a pure textile painting, it involved mostly different kinds of materials and cottons and a LOT of sewing... It seems to suggest comfort and safeness for one yet the huge white patch and the bunny gives out insecurity and unsureness...a contradicting work in my opinion, I took an interest in this work as it reminds me of my friends artwork where her theme is about blankets and things we have that are comfort to us since childhood, or as we malays in brunei call it our 'bantal buruk'. Hehehe.

This piece was a joint performance and installation work done by Allora and Calzadilla and is called "Never Mind The Noise You Heard" Upon reading a brief, this work was done based on war and militarism.

This was another part of the work. It took up a wide space of three different parts, that time i was walking alone and the environment that time was absolutely scary!!! The surrounding was mostly white with occasional yellow lights going on and off along with random sounds of horns, blasts and some woman singing opera songs. Each turn that I took was a HUGE suspense due to the sounds and the flashing lights, and I was at that time hoping that there was someone else in there with me for extra safety.

I was even thinking "go back! go back!" but somehow curiousity got the best of me and I just went on my scary journey along the room >_< huhuhu, so stubborn!

Seriously my heart the whole time walking in there alone was going *thump, thump, thump!!!* reaaaaaallly fast and for some reason in my mind the jaws song was ringing in my head going *baaaa~~~ dum, baaaa~~~ dum, ba dum ba dum ba dum ba dum~* And once there was actually someone else in there as he appeared out of nowhere and I almost screamed, hahaha, turned out he was also visiting the room and he went out after because he finished looking around the room, hahaha, it would have been embarrasing if I did scream, such a chicken!! XD

(surely if i walked with someone else or if there was a lot of people in there it would have given out a different feel, hahaha, but being in that room alone was definetely a really cool experience!)

Okay, running out of time...i really need to get moving on with other works, next is my last review for an art piece in the museum. This is called "the-chicken-and-the-egg-no-problem-wall-painting" where the artwork is in a very long room and is a joint work of 24 different artist ( if i'm not mistaken, hehehe. )

You can see how long the room is in this picture and there should be an extra 1/4th left running at the back of the photo. It took me bout 45 minutes total to explore the whole area on both sides.

This particular work reminds me so much of a japanese tree and the shadow on the wall with a red moon is really unique and reminded me of the chinese moon cake festival, hehehe.

This was taken on a different view...this work was made of wire, wood, tape and paper.

Apart from the ridiculously long room, all the arts in the centre are lit up by different levels of spotlights and the shadows casted on the walls gives out a whole new and different set of artworks, I must say i'm very amazed at how the artists thought up of the floorplans and how they managed to calculate he distances between them. Such accuracy...

This piece suggested "relaxed and meditative" environment...what i really was interested in was the shadow behind it,hehehe.

By far, i think this one was the best. It was made of velcro, wire, cables, sockets and bulbs. No glass, no plastic. The title for this artwork was "infection." a simple yet strong word.

Another view but from the back.

This was a mixed media work, and is called a "vase portrait." A rather simple work in fact because each artist was ask to bring their favourite kind of flower ( but was not told what it was going to be used for ) Each flower was then put in different vases thus completeing the vase portrait...simple yet cunning i would say, hahaha.
There are actually more works in the museum than shown above, but these are just the ones noted that i am very interested in and i must honestly say that i won't bother talking too much about work that i have no interest in let alone one that i think makes no sense at all...besides in the art world not all the works are perfect just like a click of the finger, it takes time and tons of experiments to get it right and sometimes for some artist it takes the right environment for them to create work.
Well...I hoped you enjoyed my little review of whats in the Stedelijk Museum =) sorry if the post was a tad bit too long or boring, hehehe, if you meet me in person I could talk about art the whole day long, hahaha. XD
Next update will hopefully be about how my college exhibition went or about the japanese tea ceremony, either way it waits till i get my pictures all sorted out ;) till then~~!
As japanese people say....Sayonara~~! XD
